Interior Waterproofing (with Sump Pump)
First your basement walls will be examined for cracks. We can look at crack injections with epoxy if needed.
We dig a shallow trench around your interior foundation perimeter approximately 18 inches wide. This trench is filled with gravel. Perforated pipes are laid on top of the gravel. A slope of one inch for every eight feet in length is generally recommended for the perforated pipes.
The holes are in the lower half of the pipes. This allows water to flow best inside the pipes. The pipes are angled down and away so gravity forces the water away from your foundation to a sump pump.
We will drill small holes in your foundation near the footings, to allow trapped water to flow into the gravel trench. We connect small lengths of garden hose to these holes for the cleanest drainage into the gravel.
A sump pump will be installed in a hole approximately the size of a circular garbage bin. The perforated pipes empty out into this sump pump. The sump pump is a mechanical device which uses a floater to detect water level. Once the water level hits a certain point, water starts pumping up out of a vertical pipe that is separate from the perforated drainage pipes.
From the sump pump the water goes up the vertical pipe and elbows into and through your foundation wall above ground. From there the pipe goes to a desired discharge point.
Your basement walls will be covered in a waterproof membrane. This waterproof membrane will reach the floor and make small L-shape into the floor. Underneath this little L-shape of membrane will be the garden hoses emptying into the gravel trench, with the perforated pipes underneath.
The trench and sump pump pit is covered in concrete once everything is laid out. All that is left is the membrane, concrete, and the lid of your sump pump.
